Head Teacher Welcome

Dear Parents/ Carers,

On behalf of the Trust, Governing Body and staff I would like to extend a very warm welcome to New Lubbesthorpe Primary School.

Our website includes a range of useful and interesting information about our school.

New Lubbesthorpe Primary School is a caring community of children, parents, staff and governors.  Together we continually strive to provide a happy and supportive environment in which the unique potential in every child is realised. We are ambitious for our pupils and our aim is for each child to become a confident, enthusiastic and independent learner, achieving their best. We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to this aim.

We are very proud of our school and our children. If you would like to find out more about us, please contact the office to arrange to come and see us. We welcome visits to our school.

If the information you require is not shown on these pages, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

We hope you find all of the information you are looking for and that the website will give you an insight into the life at our wonderful school.

New Lubbesthorpe opened as a brand new school in the New Lubbesthorpe area in September 2019. .  We are accepting all pupils from EYFS to Year 6. The school will grow year on year as we welcome new children across the school. It will eventually have two year groups (two form entry) EYFS to Year 6 and is built to cater for 420 pupils.

It is a very exciting time for all of us as we establish New Lubbesthorpe in the local community and we welcome your support for our school.

We greatly value parents and families as key to children’s success in education and are particularly keen to involve you in your child’s learning, by letting parents know what is happening in class, and supporting you to be able to help your child.

Our ethos is firmly rooted in our belief in providing the best opportunities for all of our pupils and New Lubbesthorpe is:

  • A place of happiness, excitement and wonder, full of happy, inquisitive children, who love learning and who are determined to do their best and try new things.
  • A place where we pursue high academic standards but also provide a well-balanced education, where children are given an opportunity to discover talents across the whole curriculum including in technology, The Arts, PE & Sport.
  • A place where aspiration is key: every child will be encouraged and given their chance to shine regardless of ability or circumstances. Mistakes are welcomed as opportunities for new learning and understanding.

A place where learning is for all: our parents and community are welcome as our key learning partners in enabling children and families to flourish.

New Lubbesthorpe Primary School is an academy and enjoys the benefits of being part of the OWLS Academy Trust.

We work collaboratively with other schools in the trust, sharing practice and resources, however, our school also prides itself in retaining its autonomy.

Our aim is to recognise each child's individual talents. We want pupils at New Lubbesthorpe to have memorable, lifelong learning experiences. Our school is very special: we have a learning environment to be proud of; amazing teachers and support staff; and as a result pupils are engaged, enthusiastic and proud of their school.

We welcome visitors and if you would like to look round our fantastic school, please contact the office to make an appointment.

The OWLS Trust and New Lubbesthorpe Primary School received confirmation from the Department of Education that the OWLS Trust had been given Secretary of State Approval to sponsor our new primary free school in New Lubbesthorpe, on 1st October 2018 after consultations with parents, teachers, children and the community.

The Governors and all other stakeholders, keeping abreast with the changing landscape of education, believe that partnership is vital to ensure stability and continuous high quality provision for our children. As a result the decision was made to join with local schools to from a Multi Academy Trust (MAT).

We are proud to be part of the OWLS (Oadby, Wigston & Leicestershire Schools) Academy Trust. OWLS (Oadby, Wigston & Leicestershire Schools) Multi Academy Trust is made up of 8 Primary Schools in the Leicestershire area, Glenmere Primary School, Langmoor Primary School, Little Hill Primary School, Fernvale Primary School, Hinckley Parks Primary School, New Lubbesthorpe Primary School, Ravenhurst Primary School, Hollycroft Primary School and Newlands Primary School.  The 9 schools have formed a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and work closely together to share expertise and resources to provide continuous high-quality provision for our children.

The school received a successful Ofsted inspection, with an overall judgement of Good and Outstanding for Personal development.  It was wonderful that His Majesty’s Ofsted inspectors recognised ‘The school has high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour.’ Inspectors were impressed with our pupils’ positive behaviour ‘Pupils are respectful, well- mannered and polite. ’Pupils are a credit to the school.’

The inspectors praised the quality of education received by all pupils, highlighting the strength of the curriculum and the multitude of opportunities there are for children to enjoy personal
development. ‘The school has produced a well-considered curriculum. It has identified the most important knowledge that pupils need to know in all subjects. This is broken down into smaller steps that pupils learn in a logical order. There is a focus on developing children’s vocabulary right from the start. ‘Teachers’ subject knowledge is strong, and they are passionate
about what they teach’.

The school is identified as being outstanding for personal development which is the highest ranking that Ofsted can award. ‘The personal development curriculum is extremely strong. The school wants to give opportunities to broaden pupils’ horizons. The school’s ‘characteristics of success’ are embedded in the curriculum. The children strive to acquire these characteristics and live by them.’
Our dedicated Values based Education work was praised in our report. ‘The school is preparing pupils exceptionally well for life in modern Britain. Pupils are very knowledgeable about fundamental British values, and they understand the importance of showing respect. They explain that everyone should be treated equally.’

It is an honour to be the headteacher of this wonderful school and we look forward to continuing our success.
